Proportions speak first

Hierarchy works faster than language.
Before a user parses a single word, the layout has already told them what dominates, what supports, and what can wait.

This happens whether it was designed or not.

What the product says without saying it

A full-width upgrade banner.
A promo block above the working area.
A modal that covers more space than the task it interrupts.

No copy in these elements says "your goal is secondary."
The scale says it on its own.

The user's actual task is still on the screen, just smaller than something else.

How users answer

They don't argue with proportions.
They route around them.

Scroll past. Close. Stop looking at the top of the page.

The dominant area keeps its size.
It just stops being seen.
